What are Papal Trip Collections?
When the Pope visits a country a collection is issued by dealers to commemorate the visit. The collection is usually made of covers cancelled in cities visited by the Pope during his visit. A set of covers may also be added cancelled on the date the Pope leaves and returns to the Vatican. An annual collection is also created for travels within Italy. All collections are made by the Filagrano company in Italy.
